This is a story of how House MD changed my life. My name is Melissa K. I am 17 years old, and I'm currently a Junior in high school.
I first started watching [H]ouse when I was 13 years old. I was instantly hooked the minute I laid eyes on my TV screen. I've never had a favorite TV show like almost everybody does, but from that moment on, I knew this would be it. It was love at first sight. Ironically, I have been a fan of Hugh's since I was five years old, ironically. (I saw Stuart Little in the movie theaters twice.)
[H]ouse has guided me through the worst years of my life. Right before I discovered House, my parents got divorced. It was an extremely rough time in my life, being that this happened when I was thirteen as well. Soon after that, I moved to a brand new town a half an hour away. Everything just happened too fast, and it was the biggest challenge of my life. This was the summer before I started my Freshman year in high school. When I sat down to watch House, I escaped from everything that was going on in my life. House has never failed to make me laugh and put a smile on my face when nothing else could. I think it's safe to say, House has motivated me enough to get on the Principal Honors List every quarter in school for my three years in high school so far. House gave me something to look forward to every Monday. Looking forward and counting down to Monday nights was the best feeling. Sitting down to watch House marathons never failed to cheer me up on the cloudiest of days.
I've made some absolutely amazing friends from being apart of the House fandom. It's safe to say that these friendships will continue beyond House, even though the show is coming to an end. I can't express how grateful I am for everything the cast and crew of [H]ouse has done for me. Speaking to anyone who worked on my favorite show always made me feel like a little kid at Disney World. They have done more for me than you could ever imagine. There are no words to describe how much it means to me. Thank you, [H]ouse for 8 incredible seasons. Thank you, [H]ouse for saving me.
